Microsoft Fails Virus Test, Informs Partners - 3/7/07
The software giant's big secret has come out, but is anyone surprised?

In a huge blow to the worlds largest software vendor, Microsoft's
OneCare AntiVirus solution clocked in dead last on a recent list,
scoring even lower than so-called security industry "leaders" Symantec
and McAfee.
In this study, conducted by a group of IT graduate students who promised
they knew what they were talking about and swore they weren't drunk
during testing, Microsoft's OneCare software wasn't even given a rating.
Many programs, of which nobody has ever heard of nor have ever sold any
copies, were able to beat Microsoft's flagship security product. It was
reportedly defeated even by simple hard drive formatting batch files
like format_the_hard_drive.bat, and microsoft_sucks.cmd. When asked
about the low scores, Microsoft IT Security Team leader Ben Losen
stated, "Microsoft is watching the results of these scores very closely.
Right now, anything that can take some heat off how badly Vista is doing
is good news in our book. We are planning to get around to fixing the
software someday, but we honestly just threw it in the mix to make Vista
PCs slower, so don't expect miracles."
When contacted for comment, Microsoft Deputy PR Adjunct to Unimatrix 003
Sue Dostory told us, "Microsoft will be studying the detailed results of
these failed virus tests carefully and informing its intimate business
partners of the results. We advise anyone who has had contact with
OneCare to check themselves for viruses with a qualified professional."
It just goes to show that you can't be too careful when it comes to
adequate protection.
